Majority of the time I consider myself to be one of the luckiest men alive, then I remember that my friends without babies have a relatively stress free life! We have been worried about my 13 week old son, Harry. Over the last 2 weeks he has slowly been taking less and less milk, literally fighting the bottle! After a few attempts he eventually takes it. He has been taking infacol and seems to be fine releasing wind…
The whole family has been ill the last fortnight, Oliver (2) with sickness at the beginning of the week, My wife Ashley again with sickness and me with Diarrhea and vomiting. Since the beginning of the week Harry has only been taking a maximum of 4 out of his 60z bottles and getting him to take that has been stressful for both my wife and I. He has already dropped a centile.
My wife Ashley, suggested that we up the teat size to 3 which he has been coping with fairly well, but still makes a fuss. Yesterday Ashley took to ‘Cow & Gate’ they advised that babies are good at regulating their feeds and if they have wet and dirty nappies we shouldn’t be overly concerned. They also advised to get him weighed and if he has dropped again then the health visitors would advise. I took to The Dad Network for advice and received similar advice.
While changing a messy nappy after Ashley’s conversation, Harry took the opportunity to projectile excrete all over her! Flowing better than the Niagara falls! (This confirmed he had been/ was ill!)
We know he is OK in himself, sleep is fine and presents himself as a happy baby, however we cannot help but feel like bad parents. This is a side of parenting that we were not informed about. We had a similar problem with Oliver, however it is difficult to compare the two. Partly as a struggle to think that far back! But also because the problem is just as real now as it was 2 years ago.
